Role Overview

The Director of Safety is responsible for ensuring compliance with DOT and OSHA regulations, developing safety programs, overseeing accident investigations, managing workers' compensation claims, and maintaining safety records for warehouse and transportation operations.

Responsibilities

1. Compliance: Ensure adherence to DOT regulations (FMCSA, OSHA, Hazmat) and warehouse safety standards.
2. Program Development: Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs for DOT and warehouse operations.
3. Training: Create and deliver safety training, including DOT-specific training for drivers.
4. Accident Investigation: Lead investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
5. Documentation: Maintain records of safety inspections, training, and incidents.
6. Risk Assessments: Conduct site inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards.
7. Claims Management: Oversee workers' compensation claims and ensure insurance compliance.
8. Communication: Disseminate safety information to employees and stakeholders.
9. Collaboration: Work with management and departments to promote a safe work environment.
