Job summary

Johnson & Johnson Robotics and Digital Solutions seeks a Director of MONARCH Software to lead multiple product initiatives, steering design, implementation, and documentation for a scalable robotic surgery business that touches millions of patients globally.

The role requires heavy leadership across device software, robotics, firmware, and cybersecurity, with travel up to 10% and by aligning with Quality, Regulatory, and Commercial teams to drive strategic direction.

Qualifications

• A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience is required.
• 10+ years professional experience in software development is required.
• 5+ years experience with hands-on technical leadership and people management is required.
• Experience with medical devices from concept to delivery is required.
• Proficiency in software development for medical devices and IEC 62304 is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate, coach, and mentor a team of high-performing engineers and managers.
• Establish team initiatives to achieve program goals and improve functional and technical excellence.
• Demonstrate technical leadership across device software development, ensuring high availability and robustness.
• Define, execute, and communicate the strategic vision for the mid-to-long-term direction and technical roadmap.
• Own outcomes for the SW R&D efforts, including budget, priorities, and delivery timelines.
