Companies in this target sector provide products and services that are utilized in technical, application specific industrial environments.Union Park has significant experience investing in environmental themes spanning multiple businesses involving technical services and technologies which monitor trends and advise customers with differentiated scientific expertise.Position SummaryUnion Park is looking for a Director of Risk Management responsible for strategic oversight, support, and coordination of all risk management functions for one of its portfolio businesses. The core functions of this position are to mitigate and resolve business and project risks and the ability to partner with operations, business leaders and C-suite leadership to effectively respond with contractual, legal, and insurance related risk solutions. The Director of Risk Management will support project teams and operational leadership with issue resolution, including claims, contract matters, liens, and legal issues.Key Responsibilities- This position will stay current with evolving environmental consulting industry risks, including insurance coverages, and will update contractual requirements, upstream and downstream, and review processes required by operations and executive leadership personnel
- The Director of Risk Management will develop knowledge sharing and training programs for applicable employees
- This role will partner with the CFO and external brokers and carriers in placing corporate insurance programs
- Review and provide direction related to risks in all types of contracts (prime and sub agreements) and proposals
- Serve as “help desk” resource to project teams assuring consistency to risk management programs and policies and necessary use of outside legal counsel
- Update contract templates and oversee updates to prime and subcontractor agreements in partnership with outside legal counsel
- Oversee Contracts Manager and contract depository
- Include preferred terms for cost, labor, time, notices, force majeure, completion terms, disputes
- Partner with learning and development on training for project teams on insurance, contracts, claim avoidance, etc.
- Additional duties may be assigned as needed to support departmental or company objectives
Key Qualifications- A bachelor’s degree in business administration, construction science, engineering, or a JD or a related discipline is required
- 10+ years of technical experience in risk management in a consulting field required
- Environmental consulting experience preferred
- Significant experience with contract/agreement risk review
- Strong knowledge of contract law pertaining to environmental services
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Work Environment and Physical RequirementsWork is primarily performed in a professional office environment with prolonged periods of computer use.
