Overview
Responsible for the development, direction, supervision and coordination of the risk management and patient liaison programs.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the day to day operations of risk management operations.Monitor and address reports related to risk.Provide consultation to various constituencies on a variety of risk related subjects based on experience and expertiseDevelop, implement and evaluate a comprehensive risk management program including the identification of risks and the implementation of risk minimization strategies; coordinating efforts between numerous entities, individuals and departments (both internal and external) to identify and minimize risk; provide education on risk management topics; Perform Safety and Efficiency audits at facilities, and recommend improvement strategies as neededInvestigate losses, potential losses providing information on such events to Counsel and other relevant constituencies; aggregate, trend and report loss related data. Develop and implement or recommend strategies to mitigate or eliminate future occurrences of the risks identified.Monitor external inspections at all locations, advise relevant constituencies of findings, citations, areas of concern and opportunities for improvementEffectively manage claims and litigation activities, as assigned, working with insurance representatives, outside counsel, claimants or their representatives or other constituencies as necessary, achieving optimal results.Development and administration of workplace safety policy and procedure programsProvide Senior Management with risk related data on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis along with recommendations for improvements where indicated.Work effectively and collaboratively with other departments in efforts to mitigate or eliminate risk. These departments include but are not limited to security, quality management, engineering, and patient care services.In coordination with the Director of Safety, administer and maintain safety programsDesign and maintain workplace safety Intranet siteDevelop and implement a workplace safety plan annuallyAlign corporate and facility information management goals and objectivesResponsible for the institution’s compliance with applicable federal, state, Joint Commission, CMS, and company regulations, rules standards, and policies.Compile facts and data regarding company workplace accidents to identify root cause and recommend strategies for accident preventionPerform special projects and coordinate workplace safety risk management activities and programs with other department managers as neededManages front line operations of area of accountability related to meeting/exceeding departmental goals, 5 keys of excellence, DCH Mission and Vision.Performs duties and manages department as outlined in the Employee Handbook; Consistent with DCH mission, vision and valuesMaintains performance, patient and employee satisfaction and financial standards as outlined in the performance evaluation.Performs compliance requirements as outlined in the Employee HandbookMust adhere to the DCH Behavioral Standards including creating positive relationships with patients/families, coworkers, colleagues and with self.Requires use of electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software and intranet.Must adhere to all DCH Health System policies and procedures.Interviews, selects, hires, and retains employees, including other management positions if authorized and budgetedConducts orientation and training for employees, including other management positionsManages performance, including other management positionsManages departmental productivity standardsProvides strategic leadership for department(s)Performs long range planning and overall direction setting at the departmental levelResponsible for department organizational structure and alignment to meet forecasted business needsResponsible for development, implementation and interpretation of system policies within a major organizational/functional area or the development and review of system policies within a recognized disciplineDCH Standards:

Qualifications
Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.A minimum of five years of experience in Risk Management and associated Insurance Industry function, requiredAdvanced accreditation and college degree in risk management, human resources or business administration in healthcare or related fieldAbility to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writingProven Effective Leadership ExperienceInterpersonal skillsEffective CommunicationStrong Attention to DetailAbility to travel as neededWORKING CONDITIONS
Sedentary – occasional light lifting (15 lbs. maximum) and/or carrying of objects. Good manual and finger dexterity. Physical presence onsite is essential. Hearing and vision must be normal or corrected to within normal range. Able to perform the duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
