Job summary

Massachusetts Port Authority seeks a Director of Retirement to provide strategic leadership for MPAERS, the authority's single-employer defined benefit pension plan. You will drive compliance, budgeting, and investment oversight while coordinating with board governance, actuaries, and external consultants.

You will lead member education and communications, oversee benefit calculations, and ensure adherence to Massachusetts public retirement regulations, reporting, and audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree and/or Certified Employee Benefits Specialist certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees and administers the MPAERS, a single employer defined benefit pension plan.
• Ensures compliance with Chapter 32 and PERAC regulations; manages investment strategies and financial reporting.
• Directs budgeting and membership/customer service functions; counselors on benefits and retirement calculations.
• Leads board relations, policy development, and procurement; coordinates with Actuary, Investment Advisor, and external auditors.
• Liaises with Massport on retirement matters and travels to Massport facilities as needed.
