Director of Residence Life

Anderson University’s Office of Student Development invites applications for a full-time position as Director of Residence Life. Anderson University is an innovative, entrepreneurial, premier comprehensive, liberal arts university affiliated with the South Carolina Baptist Convention. The Director provides leadership and oversight for areas within Student Development that support students’ residential and co-curricular experience. The Director works with the Associate Vice President of Student Development as well as other professional staff in the Student Development division to implement and maintain effective residence life programs that support and serve Anderson University students. This includes program development, housing management, strategic planning, policy development and evaluation, and assessment for the effectiveness of all Residence Life programs and activities.

Other duties include, but are not limited to:

1. Providing administrative oversight and leadership to the Residence Director staff, the Associate Director of Residence Life, and student Resident Advisors.
2. Planning and implementing annual training for Residence Director and Resident Advisor staff at the beginning of each school year and ongoing training throughout the year.
3. Implementing student accountability and care practices in support of the University mission, values, conduct policies, and guidelines.

Collaboration with various University departments including Guest Services, Campus Ministries, Facilities Management, Admission, and Student Accounts is essential.

Requires knowledge equivalent to that gained through completion or near completion of a master’s degree in Student Development, Higher Education, or a closely related field and five to seven years of progressively responsible experience. Experience working with housing management systems and student information systems is required. Proficiency in Excel and a basic understanding of billing processes are also necessary.
