Job summary

Qualifications

• Master's degree and 7+ years in research computing/high-performance computing.
• Experience leading research computing services and teams.
• Advanced knowledge of cyberinfrastructure systems and practices.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership and operational oversight for the UAB Research Computing System.
• Collaborates with enterprise IT colleagues to support the university's research ecosystem.
• Leads and/or directs large cyberinfrastructure projects across teams.
• Contributes to protecting open access and regulated data, including HIPAA and FISMA compliance.
• Assists in annual development and oversight of departmental budget and equipment inventory.
• Analyzes complex user needs and oversees development of application solutions.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

Master's degree in Biological or Medical Science, Computer Science, Informatics, or a related field and seven (7) years of related experience in research computing and high performance computing

Experience managing research computing services and teams

Advanced knowledge of research computing systems, software, and practices
