Role Overview

The Director of Quality Assurance supports Chief Area processes, procedures, and systems to ensure compliance with federal, state, and authorizer regulations. This role involves monitoring, auditing, and collaborating with departments to improve efficacy and compliance. The position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.

Location & Travel

This is a full-time remote role based in Texas, with preferences for candidates in Austin, El Paso, Houston, Permian Basin, Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, and Tarrant County. Travel is minimal, not exceeding 20%.

Key Responsibilities

1. Coordinate with Internal Audit on annual reviews, reporting to the Board’s Audit Committee.
2. Develop an annual risk assessment and audit calendar for Chief Areas.
3. Inventory and review policies, processes, and SOPs for risk and compliance.
4. Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance and control effectiveness, reporting monthly to leadership.
5. Recommend process improvements and support their implementation.
6. Review report submissions for accuracy and compliance.
7. Establish and monitor KPIs for processes and compliance areas.
8. Partner on system integration and data security.
9. Stay updated on regulatory changes and support implementation.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.
• Minimum 10 years in finance or internal audit, preferably in K-12 education.
• Certifications like TASBO, CPA, PMP are preferred.
• Strong skills in strategic decision-making, management, communication, data analysis, and process improvement.

Physical & Additional Information

Position is sedentary; requires sitting at a computer for extended periods.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary ranges from $108,100 to $128,600, with performance pay eligibility. Benefits include health plans, disability, life insurance, vacation, professional development, and a 403(b) plan. Relocation stipends may be available.
