Job summary

Sentara Leigh Hospital is seeking a Director of Quality and Patient Safety to lead quality outcomes and regulatory readiness. You will partner with executives, medical staff and nursing leadership to advance patient safety and performance improvement in a 274-bed acute care setting.

The role requires RN licensure in VA, a Bachelor's degree (Master’s preferred), and at least 5 years of senior leadership in hospital quality with CMS and accreditation experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in nursing.
• Minimum of 5 years of clinical management and nursing leadership experience.
• 3 years hospital quality leadership experience strongly preferred.
• Experience leading quality improvement, accreditation, regulatory readiness, and patient safety initiatives.
• Experience with quality event review, root cause analysis, peer review, and performance improvement programs.

Job description

The Director of Quality and Patient Safety serves as the facility-based quality leader for Sentara Leigh Hospital, providing strategic oversight for quality outcomes, accreditation, regulatory readiness, patient safety, and performance improvement. This leader partners closely with hospital executives, medical staff, physician leaders, nursing leadership, Infection Prevention, and Risk Management to advance quality outcomes across a leading 274-bed acute care hospital recognized for nursing excellence, stroke care, orthopedic and spine services, heart and vascular care, and maternity services. The Director is responsible for quality improvement programs, event review and root cause analysis, medical staff peer review, accreditation support, and advancing organizational goals related to patient safety, quality performance, and CMS measures. Sentara Leigh Hospital is known for its commitment to innovation, clinical excellence, and delivering high-quality, patient-centered care throughout the Hampton Roads region.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $146,702.40 - $228,966.40 annually. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, on-call pay, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs. Note: If an annual salary is posted, it is based on a full-time colleague working 2,080 hours annually.
