Who we are looking for:
We are currently searching for a Director of Quality to be based out of a regional Atkore facility (Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, Atlanta, Dallas, Los Angeles) reporting to the Corporate Sr. Director of ABS. The ideal candidate will have 7 - 10 years’ experience quality, ideally in a business system-based company as a quality director, black belt, or similar role.
What you'll do:
- Aligning quality improvement efforts driving strategy deployment
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders on driving quality and value.
- Identify, create, and sustain standard processes throughout the organization.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to internal and supplier quality organizations.
- Develop a strategic plan for the organization and drive deployment to meet the breakthrough objectives.
- Lead the implementation and maintenance of, and adherence to, a consistent quality management system throughout Atkore that meets or exceed customer expectations, satisfies ISO requirements and all applicable local, state and federal laws, regulations, codes, and standards.
- Design and implement an audit process that ensures compliance to this quality management system, including executing an annual management review.
- Act as point of contact for customer, intra-divisional, interdivisional, and escalated quality issues. Ensure that appropriate steps are taken to resolve issues as they arise, as well as to correct root causes and ensure preventative measures are implemented.
What you'll bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (engineering, business management) required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Ten to fifteen years progressive related experience at a management level on different disciplines or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience to perform the requirements of the position.
- Strongly demonstrated general management skills including team building, process-based manufacturing, cost management, material/logistics, forecasting and planning, problem solving, conflict resolution and quality management.
- Possesses strong customer focus, ability to build internal and external relationships, and a service-oriented attitude.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of applicable legislation including Environment, Safety & Health, Industrial Relations, accounting principles and supply contract administration.
- In depth knowledge of Six Sigma Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, 5S, Kaizen (Certification desired).
- Leads by example working with his/her teams to implement objectives; uses action plans to ensure proper implementation.
- All associates must embrace and foster an environment that supports our core values of Integrity, Respect, Excellence, Teamwork and Accountability.
- History leading, facilitating, and supporting Kaizen events.
- Strong background in strategy deployment process. (Hoshin Kanri is preferred).
- Demonstrated competency working across business units with an integrated team to achieve positive results.
- Strong business and technical acumen required.
- Travel is 15% - 20%.
Within 3 months, you’ll:
- Complete your Atkore Onboarding & Immersion program
- Understand how your job will help deliver Atkore’s strategy
- Visit the locations you support and begin building relationships with site contacts
Within 6 months, you’ll:
- Manage Key Process Indicators and Targets To Improve (TTI) dashboards for Strategy Deployment Process.
- Support quality improvement projects at the corporate / SDP level.
- Provide input and feedback to key leadership positions about process improvement opportunities specific to all parts of the organization.
- Champion, Sponsor, or Facilitate our current quality programs
Within 12 months, you’ll:
- Identify, create, and sustain quality processes and standards throughout the organization.
- Partner with all functions to define process capabilities, assess gaps and develop gap closure plans.
- Provide functional leadership with awareness, knowledge and guidance of quality principles, methodologies and tools to support achievement of Atkore’s business objectives.
- Mentor, influence, and develop potential quality leaders through their projects driving business change.
- Conduct training of training on quality principles and tools.
