Job summary

Precision Castparts Corp. seeks a Director of Quality to lead the site Quality organization, overseeing QA, QE, inspection, supplier quality, and continuous improvement.

You will ensure AS9100 and NADCAP compliance while driving product quality and risk reduction at PCC’s California site. The role requires 10+ years in aerospace quality with 5+ years in leadership, extensive QMS experience, and a track record of audit leadership and process improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience leading AS9100, NADCAP, audits and corrective actions.
• Strong knowledge of aerospace QMS requirements and process controls.
• Ability to drive quality improvement and reduce scrap/nonconformances.
• Experience managing quality staff and budgets.

Job description

The Director of Quality leads the site Quality organization, including Quality Assurance, Quality Engineering, Inspection, Quality Systems, Supplier Quality, and continuous improvement. This role ensures compliance with AS9100, NADCAP, customer, regulatory, and contractual requirements while driving product quality, customer performance, risk reduction, and operational excellence.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead the site Quality organization and establish quality strategy, priorities, metrics, and accountability.
• Maintain and continuously improve the AS9100 Quality Management System and NADCAP-accredited special processes.
• Ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, contractual, and internal quality requirements.
• Lead inspection, quality engineering, corrective action, nonconformance, and defect-prevention processes.
• Drive reduction of scrap, rework, customer escapes, and Cost of Poor Quality.
• Lead AS9100, NADCAP, customer, internal, and supplier audits.
• Manage customer quality issues, corrective action requests, and quality escalations.
• Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain to resolve quality issues and improve process capability.
• Lead supplier quality performance, audits, corrective actions, and development activities.
• Monitor quality metrics, trends, and risks and develop improvement plans.
• Support new product introduction, manufacturing readiness, and process changes.
• Drive continuous improvement using Lean, Six Sigma, root cause analysis, and statistical methods.
• Develop and manage Quality staffing, budgets, resources, and departmental priorities.
• Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing Quality team.
• Represent Quality as a member of the site leadership team and provide regular performance and risk updates to senior leadership.

Qualifications:

• Strong knowledge of AS9100, NADCAP, and aerospace Quality Management Systems.
• Experience leading corrective action, root cause analysis, audits, nonconformance management, and continuous improvement.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, special processes, quality engineering, inspection, and process controls.
• Ability to analyze quality data and drive measurable performance improvement.
• Strong leadership, communication, business, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

Experience:

• 10+ years of progressive quality experience in aerospace, defense, or highly regulated manufacturing.
• 5+ years of quality leadership experience.
• Experience managing an AS9100-certified Quality Management System.
• Experience supporting and maintaining NADCAP-accredited special processes.Experience leading AS9100, NADCAP, customer, internal, and supplier audits.
• Experience improving quality performance, corrective action effectiveness, scrap, rework, and customer performance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Quality Management, or related field.
• Aerospace manufacturing experience involving special processes.
• ASQ CQE, CMQ/OE, AS9100 Lead Auditor, or Lean Six Sigma certification.

For informational purposes only, the range for annual base salary for this role is $170,000 to $190,000 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company’s Executive Bonus Plan, paid out up to 30% of the applicable annual base salary, based on the Company’s performance in the prior calendar year. Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company’s 401(k) plan.
