Job summary

The Cincinnati Art Museum seeks an Assistant Director of Public Programs to guide the development, implementation, and evaluation of public exhibition and collection-related programming for all ages. You will oversee large annual programs and collaborate with curators and Learning & Interpretation staff to enhance the visitor experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in art history, art education, or museum education is required.
  • Five years of related experience in museum education, public programming, or community-based collaborations.
  • Excellent and professional communication skills, written and oral, are essential.
  • Ability to present information clearly and respond to visitors’ needs is central.
  • Strong organizational skills; capable of managing multiple projects in a busy office.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and manages public programs that strengthen exhibitions, the collection, and visitor experience.
  • Develops and implements new interpretation approaches informed by learning theory and best practices.
  • Evaluates programs for all ages—workshops, lectures, gallery talks, and other activities.
  • Maintains program budgets and purchasing in line with policy.
  • Coordinates with Marketing and Visitor Services to promote programs and support registration.
