Summary

The Director of Project Engineering is responsible for leading the project design and execution of all project engineering efforts within the EPC team, and is responsible for both the management and development of project engineers. This position reports to the Director of Project Engineering or another senior management personnel that the CEO of the Company may designate. This position reports to the Irvine, CA office but will maintain a hybrid schedule of working out of their home office and the Irvine, CA office. Working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm or 9:00am to 6:00pm local time. This position is expected to travel up to 25% of the time.

Responsibilities
  1. Lead all stages of project design and project engineering, including conceptual and advanced system design, observing regulatory codes, customer requirements, balance of systems, site visits, permitting and technical support during construction phase;
  2. Extensive technical experiences on photovoltaic and energy storage projects;
  3. Supervise the technical planning for contract preparation;
  4. Report on the planning and technical design, and present it to the Vice President of Engineering;
  5. Responsible for reporting the planning process to the client;
  6. Preparation of technical documentation in the quoting process;
  7. Develop the planning abilities and processes within the team;
  8. Work in a team to develop and improve the system standards;
  9. Assist with technical training for team members and new employees;
  10. Build a quality culture of continuous improvement that enhances company efficiency and engineering quality;
  11. Drive a safety culture that embraces both a “Responsibility to act” and “Show by Example” approach;
  12. Establish metrics to quantitatively characterize project engineering status for the full life cycle of the projects;
  13. Supervising compliance with Hanwha Q CELLS – project specific standards;
  14. Supervising compliance with the requirements of the Hanwha Q CELLS quality management system;
  15. Regular attendance, in accordance with company's attendance policy and supervisory assignment, is an essential job duty requirement for this position; and
  16. Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned.
Qualifications
  1. A degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering science, with working knowledge in several fields of engineering
  2. Minimum of 10 years of professional engineering experience in solar and/or energy storage projects
  3. Minimum of 5 years of management experience leading a team
  4. Relevant experience in designing and developing power/renewable plants (utility solar or wind)
  5. Experience working internationally
  6. Willingness to travel, at least 25% of the time
  7. Experience with AutoCAD (or equivalent)
  8. Experience with photovoltaic performance modeling tools (preferably PVSyst)
  9. Knowledge of PV plant design and optimization
  10. Knowledge of the National Electric Code
  11. Previous project management experience from initial design to installation (preferred)
  12. Ability to motivate and develop others
  13. Excellent communication skills
