Qualifications

  • 15+ years of Project Controls/Project Management experience and a proven construction background.
  • 5+ years of solar self-perform construction experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (8 years) in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, Project Management, or related field from an accredited university.
  • Demonstrated experience in Project Controls Management and leadership of people.
  • Strong leadership abilities and interpersonal skills; excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Must have a valid current driver license.
  • Travel required.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Executive Leadership to set the vision, strategy, and annual initiatives for the Project Controls Department.
  • Provide budget, resources, processes, and tools to execute the vision.
  • Promote a positive culture aligned with core values and success tenets.
  • Lead a project controls program to achieve predictable fiscal outcomes and monitor performance.
  • Forecast project outcomes using KPI data and adjust as needed.
  • Identify scope changes and support change order development.
  • Identify risks and develop mitigation measures for schedule and cost.
  • Validate site-progress reports and notify stakeholders of deviations.
  • Validate forecasted cost to complete and cost at completion.
  • Facilitate time studies and analyses; produce Monte Carlo forecasts.
  • Develop leadership within the team and drive talent development.
  • Partner with other departments to ensure timely and within-budget project execution.

Job Overview:DescriptionThe Director of Project Controls will bring leadership and oversight to the financial health, scheduling, and planning of Primoris Renewable Energy projects. They will demonstrate competency around developing leaders, construction finances, fundamental project management, planning, budgeting, procurement, sub-contractors/suppliers, risk management, and change management. This individual must demonstrate the capability of building relationships and serving customers through excellent collaboration and communication.PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Vision, Strategy, and Initiatives: The director is responsible for collaborating with Executive Leadership to establish the overall vision, strategy, and annual initiatives of the Project Controls Department. Once the vision, strategy and annual initiatives are established, the director is responsible for providing the budget, resources, process, and tools to execute this vision.Promote and Drive Culture: The Director helps promote and drive a positive company culture that is aligned with our core values and tenets of success that will make PRE the most desirable company to work for in the industry. This includes leading with professionalism and respectFiscal Responsibility: The Director will establish and lead our project controls program to produce a predictable fiscal outcome for our projects. This will be accomplished by ensuring the project controls department employs fundamental planning and monitoring processes to:Monitor project performance against baseline plan, utilizing KPI’s to communicate deviations in cost or schedule to appropriate stakeholdersUtilizing project performance data to forecast/predict project outcomes and reviewing findings with stakeholders frequently to facilitate adjustments and recovery to project performance when neededIdentify change in scope situations and assist project managers in change order developmentIdentify potential risks that could impact project schedule and cost performance and help develop mitigation measuresValidate reported progress from site teams and ensure appropriate stakeholders are notified when schedule and cost are deviating from plan.Validate project forecasted cost to complete and cost at completionFacilitate time studies, spaghetti diagrams etc. to help improve project condition when neededProduce Monte Carlo analysis for project plans, risk items and forecasts when appropriate. PeopleLeadership: The Director will develop professional and respectful leaders who will deploy our project controls system to establish a leadership position in the market and facilitates “Excellence” in everything we do.Resources: The Director will hire and facilitate the development of individuals who possess the required leadership and competency to produce a high-performing outcome for the company. All teams will be established and staffed in a manner that will produce desirable results. They will serve all departments in a manner that promotes a trusting relationship where we anticipate their needs and follow through with our commitments on time and on budget.Process Improvements: The Director will execute our business strategy in a consistent, predictable, and reliable manner. Director will establish a program that will produce lower operational risk, and increased revenues, thus creating value for our customers and shareholders.
