Job summary

Safe Place for Youth seeks a Chief Program Officer to lead and oversee all programming, ensuring high-quality care for youth and alignment with strategic goals. The CPO will collaborate with the Co-CEOs and Executive Team to advance SPY's mission in a hybrid Venice, CA environment.

The role requires advanced degrees in social work or related fields, clinical licensure, and extensive leadership, budgeting, and fundraising experience within a nonprofit setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field required.
• Master's degree in social work or marriage and family therapy required.
• Clinical licensure, active and in good standing with the Board of Behavioral Sciences required.
• Two years post-licensure, with ability to supervise licensure hours required.
• 3–4 years of supervisory experience required.
• 2–3 years experience in nonprofit sector with diverse groups required.
• Experience overseeing residential services across multiple locations preferred.
• Strong leadership, strategic planning, and budget management skills required.
• Public speaking and staff development experience required.
• Valid CA driver's license and insurance required.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level strategy and oversight of program delivery with the executive team.
• Ensure program delivery aligns with SPY mission and values.
• Oversee hiring, onboarding, and training of program staff; motivate and support teams.
• Coordinate programs, contracts, and services; meet funder, partner, and client expectations.
• Identify mission-aligned opportunities to grow SPY's impact and funding.
• Engage with the Board, prepare reports and presentations.
• Participate in budget development and ensure fiscal responsibility.
• Collaborate with grants/contracts to maximize funding and staff allocation.
• Ensure programs meet KPIs and contractual requirements; drive quality improvement.
• Lead data-informed program design and evaluation.
