Job summary

The RFCUNY Research Foundation of the City University of New York seeks a Director of Award Pre-Proposal Support (APPS) to strengthen and coordinate system-wide research development across CUNY, partnering with the CUNY Office of Research. The director reports directly to the RFCUNY President and delivers centralized services to boost faculty external proposals to federal, industry, and private sponsors.

The role complements campus pre-award functions, offering training and a unified curriculum,

Qualifications

• At least ten years of grant administration or research development experience.
• Master's degree required; PhD preferred.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse faculty, senior staff, and funding agencies.
• Knowledge of federal cost principles and proposal development.
• Experience with electronic proposal systems (Cayuse, Grants.gov).
• Familiarity with Pivot-RP or GrantForward preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Experience with NORDP or similar professional org is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Promote sponsored project development across CUNY by assisting faculty, students, and staff.
• Support campus grants offices with proposal development and advisory reviews.
• Provide training and outreach on grant opportunities and proposal development.
• Assist with securing funding from private and public agencies.
• Foster collaborations through inter-institutional grants.
