RWE Americas, LLC is seeking a Director of Portfolio Management to maximize project readiness and optimize resource allocation across the portfolio. The role includes de-risking, process improvements, and supporting AI use cases within Execution & Project Management.

The position requires a technical background, extensive cross-functional leadership, and proficiency with Excel, PowerBI, Salesforce, and related tools. Salary is competitive for the U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, accounting, finance, or social sciences, or similar field preferred.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) or Professional Engineer (PE) a plus but not required.
• 6+ years of business experience including quantitative assessments and project management.
• 6+ years experience with cross-functional process improvement.
• 1+ years leading cross-disciplinary teams.
• Experience managing a project portfolio.

The Director of Portfolio Management is responsible for maximizing the readiness of RWE’s project portfolio by helping to allocate execution resources, de-risking projects, and leading process improvements from development to financial approval, including through the transition from late-stage project development to shovel-ready project execution. The role will also be responsible for supporting AI use cases in project across execution while measuring and validating the impact.

Role Responsibilities

• Directing Execution & Project Management support across the portfolio
  • Maintain a view of projects across the portfolio, stages, and the de-risking support required, including Estimating, Pre-Construction, equipment and EPC Procurement, and early execution/mobilization hand-off.
  • Implement process and methodology improvement to project readiness assessment to ensure projects ensuring that Execution and Project Management are executing activities when most valuable to projects, avoiding redundant work
  • Implement ability to standardize feedback across the organization, incorporating automation to enable an efficient update cycle
  • Help to design and implement methodology to quantify project value early through working with I&V and Commercial teams.
  • Maintain list of project value drivers, including NPV optimizations and cost-benefit evaluation of design and schedule alternatives for priority projects and enforce accountability
  • Actively collaborate with EPC Procurement to ensure the matching of top-tier EPC partners to high-quality, value accretive projects
• Implementing process improvements and improving portfolio visibility
  • Design and implement process improvements to FID-quality cost estimating and scheduling in order to accelerate project FIDs, while adding clarity to the process
  • Design and implement Portfolio Management function KPIs to measure team success transparently
  • Track and show where projects are in the Execution and Project Management “funnel” with a focus on which projects are about to advance to a new stage to resource plan as the pipeline matures
  • Continuously question what are the necessary support-function activities needed for a project to commercialize and ensure the appropriate sequence of de-risking activities to execute on high value projects
• Support AI enablement throughout Execution & Project Management
  • Support ideation and development of AI use cases in Execution & Project Management, helping to coordinate and build synergies across the AI efforts of different teams
  • Interview team members and develop and disseminate AI “light” ideas (e.g., how to use LLMs to complete repetitive tasks) that can be performed more efficiently
  • Maintain the Execution & Program Management AI roadmap

Job Requirements and Experiences

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, accounting, finance, or social sciences, or similar field preferred
• Project Management Professional (PMP) or Professional Engineer (PE) a plus but not a requirement
• Minimum 6 years experience of business experience including quantitative assessments, such as project engineering, estimating, and project management
• Minimum 6 years experience including detailed quantitative management of complex business function and cross-functional process improvement
• Minimum 1 years experience directly leading cross-disciplinary teams
• Minimum 3years experience as a renewables developer or project manager preferred but not required
• Experience managing a project portfolio
• Proficiency in managing project schedule scenarios across a portfolio of projects
• Engineering or technical background with strong proficiency in problem solving
• Expertise in late-stage project development activities, including experience stewarding projects from mid-stage development through financial approval
• Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint) and Teams. Intermediate level Excel experience is required, including pivot tables, advanced financial formulas, troubleshooting, Index Match, graphs, etc).
• Proficiency with Salesforce and PowerBI preferred.
• Advanced understanding of running analytics for KPIs to drive decision-making on cost controls, approvals of POs, and EPC contract negotiation and value-engineering analyses.
• Strong organization skills, attention to detail, and ability to coordinate on multiple tasks and deliverables among multiple departments.
• Advanced problem-solving skills including ability to identify, troubleshoot, execute, and communicate root causes, variance drivers, risks, and solutions to resolve issues.
• Proven ability to build relationships and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds.
• Efficiency minded with a strong drive to improve ways of working

Pay range

The annual base salary range for this position in California, New York, or Illinois is $190,000 - $220,000. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations.
