Job summary

The Center for the Rights of Abused Children seeks a Director of External Affairs to monitor policy developments and guide leadership with clear analysis. You will cultivate relationships with policymakers, coalition partners, and external stakeholders to expand our reach and impact.

Represent the organization publicly, translate our on-the-ground work into compelling external communications, and collaborate with the communications team to reflect policy progress in messaging. Travel as needed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in policy analysis, government relations, or advocacy.
• Track record of building relationships with policymakers and coalitions.
• Ability to translate complex policy landscapes into leadership briefs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for external settings.
• Willingness to travel regularly for meetings and events.

Responsibilities

• Policy Monitoring & Analysis: Track federal/state legislation and provide timely leadership insights.
• Government & Legislative Relations: Build relationships with legislators and agencies; represent the org.
• Coalition Building: Engage allied organizations and identify joint advocacy opportunities.
• External Relations & Representation: Act as the external face with partners and stakeholders.
• Strategic Communications Support: Align public messaging with policy developments.
• Research & Briefing Materials: Produce briefs, talking points, summaries for leadership.
