A leading healthcare facility is seeking a Director of Plant Operations and Maintenance to oversee the management and strategic planning of the plant operations department. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in hospital maintenance, strong leadership skills, and a background in engineering. This role involves ensuring optimal patient safety and comfort through efficient operations and maintenance practices.
Position Summary
The Director of Plant Operations and Maintenance will be responsible for the management, leadership, business operations, and financial oversight for the plant operations department, as well as, the strategic planning. They will also direct and coordinate all activities related to facility plant operations
Core Duties
• Plan, coordinate and direct daily operations of the department ensuring hospital maintenance needs are efficiently and effectively met for optimum patient safety and comfort in accordance with regulatory bodies as well as organizational policies and guidelines.
• Manage operations to achieve quality improvement while maximizing productivity and minimizing costs.
• Initiate and monitor appropriate procedures to quickly respond to mechanical or electrical failures to prevent or minimize inconvenience and maintain life support/safety systems.
• Develop, coordinate and administer a preventive maintenance program.
• Coaches and develops the skills and talents of the department employees.
• Supervises and participates in the hiring, training, evaluating and employee relations of department staff.
• Plans, develops and submits for approval department annual business and budgetary plans ensuring established goals and objectives are achieved within budgetary guidelines.
• Schedules departments staffing.
Minimum Requirements
• A minimum of 7+ years of hospital plant operations and maintenance experience.
• A minimum of 5+ years Director/Management experience in plant operations
• Associates degree in Engineering or related field, Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Strong business acumen with experience in strategic planning and decision making
• Demonstrated excellence in team building and communication, both verbal and written.
• Must have knowledge of Environment of Care.
• Must have experience with construction in healthcare and the ability to read and interpret blueprints.
