Prairie St. John's has been providing services for children, adolescents, and adults to address behavioral health and substance use challenges since 1997. Prairie offers inpatient hospitalization, day treatment, intensive outpatient services, MAT and supportive housing. Accredited by The Joint Commission, we are the largest, freestanding behavioral health facility in the region. More than 4,000 patients receive care from our compassionate health care team each year at Prairie St. John's.

We are currently seeking a Facilities Director who will be responsible for the management and organization of the operations of the facility and materials management, as well as maintaining compliance with all applicable codes, standards of government and regulatory agencies. This individual will work with the management team, clinical leadership and supervisors to ensure the safe and efficient operation of hospital buildings, equipment, and hospital grounds within operational budget.

Essential duties
  • Develops, implements, monitors, and revises the structure of, policies and procedures for, operations of the housekeeping, maintenance, life safety, and environment of care services offered at Prairie St. John's.
  • Ensures that all policies and procedures meet compliance requirements of all governing bodies. Represents organization related to housekeeping, maintenance, emergency management services, Life Safety, and Environment of Care with CMS, OSHA, Department of Health and Joint Commission reviews.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of buildings and grounds, services and departments. Plans and implements changes as necessary with the facilities, vendors, and staff.
  • Responsible for staff selection, evaluation, scheduling, training and retention including, providing effective, positive direction to staff; meeting regularly with staff to discuss processes and goals and modifications to meet changing needs.
  • Provides feedback to staff on performance, reinforcing desired behaviors and team-building efforts and intervening promptly in deficiencies to reduce turnover rate and formal performance measures. Completes performance evaluations, competency assessments and check-ins for staff in a timely manner.
  • Implements and monitors the department budget. Implements action plans to stay within budget for expenses and expand opportunities for additional revenue.
  • Participates in planning and review of policies and procedures for all departments as necessary.
  • Demonstrates tact, diplomacy, and sensitivity in communications. Is clear and accurate in communication. Responds promptly to requests, problems, and questions. Maintains confidentiality as appropriate. Interacts well with co-workers, inter and intra departments.
  • Ability to perform other duties as assigned or as requested.
Qualifications

Director of Facilities Job Requirements:

  • 5 years of building services experience and 2 years of managerial experience.
  • Must be very knowledgeable with the Department of Health, OSHA, and Joint Commission requirements.
  • Computer skills include; Microsoft Office products, including e-mail, Word, and Excel.
  • Must possess strong leadership, mentoring skills, the ability to problem solve and think critically in quickly changing circumstances.
  • Must be able to multi-task and communicate in a professional manner in both verbal and written format.
