We’re seeking a Director of Pediatric Heart Failure/Heart Transplant to join an existing pediatric heart failure/heart transplant cardiology and a newly hired heart failure/heart transplant physician assistant at Ochsner Children’s Hospital in New Orleans, the only pediatric heart transplant center in the state and the #1 ranked children’s hospital in Louisiana by U.S. News & World Report.
This position includes care of patients with cardiomyopathies, heart failure, transplant, congenital heart disease, and ventricular assist devices. You will be joining two heart failure/heart transplant cardiologists and a newly hired heart failure/transplant physician assistant in the only pediatric heart transplant center in Louisiana. The transplant team is supported by dedicated transplant coordinators, transplant psychologist, transplant social worker, transplant pharmacist, and palliative care team. Ochsner Health has all pediatric cardiac sub-specialties including EP, ACHD, interventional cardiology, imaging including echocardiography and cardiac MRI and CT, and fetal cardiology. In addition, there are 3 congenital heart surgeons and a dedicated pediatric cardiac intensive care unit.
Ochsner Children’s Hospital is excited to announce their expansion with the building of a new separate, comprehensive and dedicated children’s hospital on the Ochsner main campus expected to open in 2027.
Ochsner Children’s is an active participant in PHTS and ACTION. Interested applicants should be BC/BE in pediatric cardiology and have completed an advanced fellowship in pediatric heart failure/heart transplant or minimum of 5 years of experience in the field.
The team currently cares for patients in an expanding 67-bed Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a 14-bed PICU, a 12-bed pediatric CV-ICU, and a 44-bed pediatric acute unit, with a dedicated pediatric emergency room, and full-time, region-wide in-house pediatric and neonatal transport teams.
In addition to patient care, Ochsner Children’s Hospital has an ACGME-accredited pediatric residency program and is responsible for teaching pediatric residents from the Tulane-Ochsner Pediatric Residency program as well as medical students from both Tulane and the University of Queensland.
