Job summary

Always Compassionate Health in Melville, NY is seeking a Director of Payroll to lead the payroll function, ensure timely processing, and maintain compliance across federal, state, and local regulations.

This exempt role partners with HR, Finance, and Operations, oversees payroll system administration, and drives process improvements while safeguarding confidential payroll data.

Candidates should have CPP, 7+ years of multi-state payroll and leadership experience, with ADP/Workday/UKG proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field.
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.
• Minimum seven (7) years of progressive payroll experience.
• Minimum of three (3) years of payroll leadership or supervisory experience.
• Experience managing multi-state payroll operations.
• Experience with ADP, Workday, UKG or similar platforms.

Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee end-to-end payroll processing for all employees.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws and payroll taxes.
• Oversee payroll tax filings, reconciliations, and year-end reporting.
• Administer payroll systems, data integrity, and system optimization.
• Develop and maintain payroll policies, controls, and best practices.
• Collaborate with HR and Finance on data changes, accruals, and reporting.
• Review and approve payroll adjustments, bonuses, and deductions.
• Lead payroll audits and support external auditors as needed.
• Protect confidential payroll information and drive process improvements.
