University Hospitals in Cleveland seeks a Director of Palliative Care to oversee the clinical, operational and administrative activities of the palliative care program, ensuring high-quality, compassionate care.

The role includes physician leadership, quality and operations, and education initiatives with responsibility for staffing models, mentorship, and program development across the UH system.

Qualifications

• Board certified or board eligible Physician.
• Active Ohio Medical License in good standing upon employment.
• Excellent clinical and teaching skills.
• Ability to enrich the inter-collaborative culture of the Division.
• New and experienced geriatric trained physicians are welcome to apply.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with hospital leadership to grow the system-wide palliative care model.
• Recruit palliative care certified faculty for the hospital and system.
• Support and mentor the palliative care medical staff.
• Define supervision and career development for regional directors and NP staff.
• Advance clinical and academic mission of the section.
• Formalize the palliative care model with regional directors.
• Develop a staffing coverage model to meet clinical needs.
• Ensure care aligns with UH standards and accreditation.
• Lead quality assurance and peer review activities.
• Create a system-wide quality metrics dashboard.
• Supervise trainees and ensure clinical competency for new faculty.
• Grow curricula for residents/fellows and hospitalists.
• Oversee the fellowship program in palliative care.
• Ensure infrastructure for palliative care documentation.
• Participate in local and regional CME and outreach.
