What we’re looking for:

Custom Ink is seeking an accomplished and forward-thinking Director of Paid Search to lead our paid search efforts. Reporting directly to the CMO, this strategic role will be responsible for defining, executing, and optimizing Custom Ink's paid search strategy across all platforms, with a significant emphasis on maximizing performance through cutting-edge AI-driven tools and advanced capabilities within SA360.

This is a critical leadership position that demands not only deep technical expertise in paid search but also exceptional cross-functional collaboration skills to ensure our paid search initiatives are seamlessly integrated with broader marketing, product, and data strategies. You will be at the forefront of leveraging the latest innovations in the search world, continuously exploring and implementing AI-powered solutions to drive significant growth and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have:

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in paid search marketing, with a significant portion in a leadership role managing multi-million dollar budgets, preferably within an e-commerce or direct-to-consumer environment.
  • Deep, proven expertise with SA360 (Search Ads 360) is non-negotiable. You should be highly proficient in its advanced features, automated bidding strategies, reporting capabilities, and integrations within the Google Marketing Platform.
  • Demonstrated experience and passion for leveraging AI-driven tools and automation in paid search. You should be excited by the rapid evolution of this space and have a clear vision for how AI can unlock new levels of performance and efficiency.
  • Exceptional cross-functional leadership and communication skills, with a track record of successfully collaborating with diverse teams and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
  • Passionate team leader and developer of talent, both in managing and leading internal teams as well as partnering and guiding our Agency partners
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
  • Proven ability to build, lead, and inspire high-performing teams.
  • Familiarity with various attribution models and their application in paid search.
  • Experience with feed management and optimization for Shopping campaigns.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or a related quantitative field.

What you’ll do:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and own Custom Ink's comprehensive paid search strategy, aligning it with overall business objectives and driving measurable impact on customer acquisition, revenue, and ROI.
  • SA360 Mastery: Leverage deep, hands-on expertise with SA360 (Search Ads 360) to optimize campaigns, manage bids, analyze performance, and unlock advanced features like consolidated portfolios, enterprise bidding, custom dimensions, and generative reporting.
  • AI-Driven Innovation: Be a pioneer in identifying, testing, and implementing new AI-driven tools and functionalities within the paid search landscape (e.g., automated bidding, advanced audience targeting, generative ad copy, predictive analytics) to enhance campaign performance and efficiency.
  • Own the Customer Search Journey: Take end-to-end ownership of the customer experience through the search funnel. This includes audience identification and strategy, creative development, bidding/optimization, and closely partnering with Product and Sales to ensure a seamless landing and conversion experience.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with internal teams including Marketing (Brand, Content, Social, Email), Analytics & Data Science, Product, and Engineering to ensure a unified and impactful customer journey across all touchpoints. Champion paid search insights and best practices throughout the organization.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of paid search specialists, fostering a culture of continuous learning, experimentation, and excellence.
  • Performance Optimization: Oversee the meticulous management and optimization of large-scale paid search campaigns across Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, and other relevant platforms, ensuring efficient budget allocation and maximizing ROAS.
  • Reporting & Insights: Deliver insightful performance reports and analyses to executive leadership and stakeholders, translating complex data into actionable recommendations and contributing to strategic decision-making.
  • Market & Competitive Intelligence: Stay at the forefront of industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies in paid search, translating insights into proactive strategies.
  • Vendor Relationships: Manage relationships with key platform partners (e.g., Google, Microsoft), technology vendors and our Agency partners to ensure Custom Ink is leveraging the latest features and opportunities.

  • Demonstrable uplift in paid search-driven revenue and marginal contribution, conversion rates, and ROAS
  • Clear advancement in use of AI tools and SA360 capabilities to drive efficiency
  • Executive satisfaction with reporting clarity and strategic insight

  • Positive cross-functional feedback and integration with broader marketing efforts

As Director of Paid Search, you’ll lead one of Custom Ink’s most vital growth levers. You’ll champion innovation in AI-powered search marketing, mentor a talented team, and collaborate across departments to ensure an exceptional customer journey. Your strategic leadership will directly impact how Custom Ink reaches and converts future customers—elevating both brand visibility and business performance.

Compensation:

We are committed to providing pay transparency and equitable compensation.

  • For this salaried exempt position is $150,000 - $190,000 plus a performance bonus targeted at 10% of base salary, tied to individual/company performance and continued retention. Placement within the range is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to: knowledge, skills, years & depth of experience, and equity with internal team members. In this role, you will be eligible for equity compensation, aligning your contributions with the company's long-term success.
