Job summary

Aurora Behavioral Health System – Tempe is seeking a Director of Outpatient Services to lead the IOP and PHP programs at our Tempe campus. The role involves strategic leadership, program development, and ensuring high-quality behavioral health services within regulatory and organizational expectations.

The ideal candidate will be a strong clinical leader with a passion for mental health advocacy, ready to oversee staffing, operations, and growth initiatives in a collaborative healthcare

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Behavioral Health or related field.
• Active Arizona license options: LCSW, LMSW, LMFT, LAMFT, LISAC, LASAC, LPC, LAC.
• Minimum 2 years behavioral health or hospital experience in clinical inpatient/outpatient settings.
• Experience developing, growing, and managing programs is preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee all aspects of the IOP and PHP programs.
• Ensure clinical excellence and compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards.
• Lead, mentor, and develop multidisciplinary treatment teams.
• Monitor program effectiveness, patient outcomes, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Foster referral relationships and support community outreach efforts.
• Collaborate with hospital leadership to achieve organizational goals.
• Manage staffing, scheduling, productivity, and departmental budgets.
• Ensure continuity of care across the behavioral health continuum.
• Participate in strategic planning, program development, and growth initiatives.
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic, and patient-centered treatment environment.

Position Summary

The Director of Outpatient Services is responsible for the development, administration, growth, and operational success of Aurora's IOP and PHP programs. This leader will ensure the delivery of high-quality behavioral health services while supporting organizational goals, regulatory compliance, patient outcomes, and business development initiatives.

Qualifications

Education

• Master's Degree required in a behavioral health-related field

Licensure

Must possess one of the following Arizona licenses:

• LCSW
• LMSW
• LMFT
• LAMFT
• LISAC
• LASAC
• LPC
• LAC

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of behavioral health and/or hospital experience in clinical inpatient and/or outpatient settings
• Experience in psychiatric and substance use treatment programs
• Experience developing, growing, and managing programs preferred
• Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills

Additional Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Current fingerprint clearance requirements
• Negative TB test or medical clearance
• Current CPR certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
• Current Therapeutic Options (TO) certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
