Job description

The Director of Operations leads a multidisciplinary function spanning business operations, program management, analytics, and operational efficiency. As a strategic and operational partner to the VP of Operations, the role converts organizational strategy into priorities, decision-ready insights, and scalable plans that improve access, growth, workforce effectiveness, and financial performance in behavioral healthcare. The position requires both rigorous analysis and ownership of implementation.

Operational Leadership and Delivery
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team across business operations, analytics, program management, and operational excellence, establishing shared goals and a collaborative environment.
  • Develop and implement systems, policies, procedures, productivity standards, and efficient workflows. Oversee team projects from planning through completion and use KPIs and best practices to improve performance.
  • Set the analytical agenda for access, supply, and network optimization, linking demand, provider capacity, and payer participation with growth and operating decisions.
  • Lead retention, segmentation, utilization, and other critical analyses, establishing a consistent approach to business intelligence.
  • Build business cases and recommendations for new markets, channels, services, partnerships, and strategic transactions.
  • Lead a portfolio of cross-functional launches and transformations involving payers, geographies, channels, service lines, integrations, and internal capabilities.
  • Define governance, ownership, milestones, dependencies, and escalation paths. Surface risks and tradeoffs with recommendations that support decisions.
  • Create reusable launch playbooks that improve predictability, speed, and resource efficiency.
  • Build workforce planning through demand and capacity forecasts, staffing models, optimized scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Redesign workflows, standardize processes, and improve automation and tooling while preserving access, quality, and employee experience.
  • Establish service levels and performance routines that reveal bottlenecks and measure productivity, capacity, quality, and financial impact.
  • Own annual and quarterly Operations planning and translate strategy into operational priorities.
  • Advise the VP of Operations and senior leaders, develop new capabilities, and lead consequential work that crosses existing team boundaries.
  • Build high standards, collaboration, and accountability while improving how the function uses data, tools, and AI.
Required Experience and Leadership Skills
  • At least six years in business operations, strategy and operations, program leadership, operational excellence, or a comparable field, including at least three years in management consulting or investment banking.
  • A record of structuring ambiguous problems, producing analytically rigorous recommendations, and converting them into operating plans and measurable outcomes.
  • Experience leading multiple complex cross-functional initiatives and creating accountability in teams outside direct reporting lines.
  • Strong quantitative and financial skills, advanced Excel or Google Sheets modeling, and experience with forecasting, business cases, unit economics, performance metrics, and executive analysis.
  • Organization and follow-through sufficient to manage a broad portfolio without overlooking critical details.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, including concise decision memos and executive presentations that explain complexity, tradeoffs, and recommendations.
  • People-management experience and the ability to coach and develop strong teams.
  • Autonomy and initiative in identifying important problems and carrying work through to measurable results.
  • Systems thinking that turns disorganized workflows and one-off solutions into durable routines, playbooks, SLAs, dashboards, and clear handoffs.
  • Comfort adapting to evolving priorities and uncertain paths.
  • Practical use of AI tools to improve analysis, workflow design, decision support, or team productivity.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Background
  • Experience at a top-tier strategy consulting firm followed by three to five years in an operating, strategy, or business operations role.
  • An MBA, another relevant advanced degree, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in healthcare, technology-enabled services, a marketplace, or another environment combining supply, demand, access, and service quality.
  • Experience building or leading business operations, program management, workforce management, operations analytics, continuous improvement, or automation.
  • Familiarity with SQL, BI tools, workforce-planning systems, or other analytical and operational technologies. Direct hands-on expertise is helpful but not required.
