Director of Operations - Logistics/Distribution - Base Salary to 175k/year - Carlisle, PA
- Our client in logistics and distribution is known for their high performance and trustworthy reputation. They are looking for a Director of Operations who is responsible for leading the Storage, Handling, and Custom Packaging departments to ensure alignment with company goals and long-term strategic success. The Director of Operations role requires strong leadership, operational expertise, and a commitment to excellence in service delivery, process improvement, and team development.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the operational departments, ensuring all teams meet established objectives and performance standards.
- Drive a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and high ethical standards.
- Foster a positive work environment that supports employee engagement and professional growth.
- Monitor, report, and improve key operational metrics (e.g., revenue per hour, cycle counts, errors, productivity).
- Ensure all SOPs are followed, and operational processes are executed accurately and efficiently.
- Deliver weekly performance updates to executive leadership.
- Manage vendor relationships and review all related invoices for accuracy.
- Collaborate with Finance to maintain a rolling 12-month forecast and control departmental expenses.
- Identify and implement at least two significant improvements annually to drive efficiency and accuracy.
- Ensure full compliance with safety policies and standard operating procedures.
- Monitor and report on safety metrics weekly.
- Support company safety initiatives in coordination with the Health and Safety Steering Committee.
- Lead cross-functional projects, developing plans that include goals, timelines, resource needs, risk analysis, and execution steps.
- Regularly review project progress with executive leadership and adjust plans as needed to stay on target.
- Set clear goals and performance expectations for all direct reports.
- Conduct regular coaching, issue performance improvement plans (PIPs) when necessary, and ensure consistent leadership presence in operations.
- Conduct monthly audits on departmental image, sanitation, and equipment condition.
- Establish and maintain a succession plan for all mission-critical functions within the operation.
- Provide ongoing training and cross-training to ensure operational continuity.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience leading warehouse, distribution, and/or packaging operations.
- Strong knowledge of supply chain, warehousing, and logistics best practices.
- Track record of successfully managing long-term, cross-departmental projects.
- Ability to lead high-performing teams and deliver measurable results.
Compensation:
- Base salary in the 150k - 175k/year range plus full benefits and performance-based bonus opportunity.
