The Center for AI Safety (CAIS) in San Francisco, CA, is hiring a Director of Operations to lead the Ops Associate team and own end-to-end operational projects in a fast-moving, mission-driven environment. This on-site role reports to the VP of Operations and will manage facilities, hiring support, and cross-functional initiatives.

• 7-10 years in operations, program management, or a high-ownership role with direct people management.
• Track record solving dynamic cross-organizational operational challenges autonomously.
• Executive presence and comfort with senior external stakeholders.
• Discretion handling sensitive information and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Ops Associate Team with priorities, delegation, coaching, and performance ownership.
• Own end-to-end complex projects, including office moves, systems implementations, and compliance.
• Oversee the office and external experience, including vendor relations and appearances to outsiders.
