Job description

Director of Operations – Construction Engineering

Are you a strategic leader with an entrepreneurial spirit? Do you want to do more than just work for a company—do you want to have a stake in the outcome?

Director of Operations – Construction Engineering

Global Recruiters of Buckhead is representing a prestigious global technical consultancy in the selection of a Director of Operations – Construction Engineering. Our Client is a 100% employee‑owned firm with a 75‑year legacy of optimizing the built environment. From design and construction to forensics and modernization, they are the industry standard for technical expertise.

Based in Dallas, TX, this role sits within the firm's dynamic Repair & Modernization department, offering a unique opportunity to shape the future of a high‑performing business unit.

This is not just a job; it is an invitation to join a culture of true partnership and ownership.

The Strategic Mission

We are seeking a driven professional to lead this business unit. This is a high‑impact role for a leader who thrives on strategy, mentorship, and operational excellence. You will not only oversee complex projects and P&L; you will set the tone for the culture, drive growth, and mentor the next generation of consultants.

Employee Value Proposition
  • Be an Owner: As an ESOP firm, you share directly in the company’s profits and direction.
  • Global Impact, Local Touch: Leverage world‑class resources while building deep, local client relationships.
  • Holistic Growth: Access an internal corporate university and clear pathways for career advancement.
The Leadership DNA Required
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering or Architecture‑related discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or Project Management (specifically in design, construction, or forensics).
  • Leadership: Minimum of 2 years of business unit leadership. This includes managing staff, P&L/revenue responsibility, hiring/firing, and driving growth strategy.
  • Technical Knowledge: A practical, deep understanding of building structures and the construction process from cradle to grave.
  • Licensure: PE or AIA license is highly desired.
The Ideal Profile
  • Discipline Focus: You must have a background in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Architecture.
  • Note: We are not currently seeking candidates with Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Geotechnical backgrounds for this specific role.
  • Specialized Experience: You MUST have proven experience in Restoration & Repair Engineering, Forensic Engineering, and/or Building Enclosure.
  • Client‑Facing DNA: This is a consulting firm. We need a leader who loves being in front of clients, building relationships, and winning trust—not someone looking to stay behind a computer screen.
The Rewards of Ownership

Beyond the competitive compensation, bonuses, and comprehensive benefits (Medical/Dental/Vision, 401(k) with 6% match, generous PTO), the true differentiator is the Employee Stock Ownership Plan. After a qualifying period, you become eligible for Stock Ownership. This is a wealth‑accumulation vehicle that turns your hard work into a tangible stake in the company’s future. You will be joining a team built on Ownership, Optimism, Integrity, Community, and Respect.
