Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD) is one of the largest Catholic Charities Agencies providing care for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the United States. We are looking for dedicated, caring and compassionate people to work in our Group Homes.
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
This position is a director-level supervisor and is accountable to the Executive Director. The Director of Operations delegates daily assignments for designated maintenance staff and volunteers.
HOURS: 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday, typically between the hours of 8:30 am and 4:30 pm, with flexibility to meet the needs of the department and programs. This is an exempt position.
On an Emergency Basis: Can be called in to work in the event of an emergency for example, inclement weather, structural or systems damage on properties, etc.
Pay: $75-80k, based on experience
This position is responsible to oversee all DPD operations including facilities and fleet management as well as the ability to perform all maintenance type tasks at the direction of the administration. The employee will cooperate with the agency's administration, Catholic Charities, Diocese of Paterson and/or Division of Developmental Disabilities and the Department staff in any inspection, investigation or inquiry.
Associates or Bachelor’s Degree and minimum three years’ experience in facility/fleet management. Working knowledge of tools and maintenance methods. Project management experience preferred. Must have a driver's license, which is valid in the State of New Jersey and points on license not to exceed 5 points. Required to drive agency vehicles. Should have knowledge of, or willingness to learn computer programs.
High degree of physical capability and mobility, excellent organizational skills, sensitivity to the cultural differences present in people living or working in the programs.
Catholic Charities-DPD programs, Catholic Charities/Diocesan properties located throughout the Diocese of Paterson. Coordinating with maintenance staff and administration to address all operations including facility, fleet and maintenance needs of the organization for all facilities.
Ability to operate tools and maintenance equipment. Move furniture, Snow removal on walkways, driveways and vehicles. Various construction projects including but not limited to minor repairs, electrical and plumbing. Ability to lift 40+ lbs. and perform physical maintenance tasks.
This position works cooperatively with other staff. Will interface with external contractors, vendors, local and state officials.
Traveling to and from various locations will be required. The individual's workday commences with the arrival at the designated work location. Those hours will be credited towards the workday. It is the responsibility of the individual to be prepared for the given assignment prior to arriving at the designated work site.
To complete the orientation process and to fulfill all required training within the specified time period. These include, but are not limited to all state mandated trainings via the College of Direct Support, as well as agency specific/Catholic Charities/Diocese of Paterson trainings, as directed to do so by the supervisor or Human Resources staff. Must renew certifications as required. Must meet the annual continuing education training requirements.
