Elite Executive Recruiter (LI Top 1%) | Make Hiring Human | C-Suite, Finance, HR, Supply Chain, Marketing, Merchandising, Operations, Technology |…

You’ve run large-scale Lean projects in multi-site organizations (minimum 50 locations). You’ve coached others through DMAIC cycles in healthcare-adjacent industries, dental, logistics, or customer-facing businesses with compliance across state lines. You’ve seen how inefficient systems frustrate teams and waste resources — and you’ve made them better. Now you’re ready to architect a smarter way to operate — from the ground up.

Our client — a national, multi-site services company with more than 200 locations — is launching a new chapter in how it serves people and operates at scale. This organization is investing in Lean as a core discipline for operational excellence. With double-digit growth, a human-centered mission, and field teams who care deeply about their work, delivering services across a wide range of U.S. communities with complex operational and compliance needs. We’ve been retained exclusively to find their first Director of Operational Excellence, reporting directly to a senior operations leader.

This is not a legacy program to tweak. It’s a build-it-yourself opportunity — with leadership support, proven market demand, and no red tape.

This position can be located anywhere near a major U.S. airport, and you must be open to 50% or more travel (more site density in SE and SW U.S.).

What You’ll Do:

  • Design, implement, and lead a company-wide Lean Six Sigma program from scratch
  • Create enterprise-level process maps, gap analysis, and standardized workflows across locations
  • Coach and train leaders across the field and support center in Lean tools, concepts, and mindsets
  • Lead cross-functional DMAIC projects that drive measurable improvement in labor efficiency, service consistency, and family/client experience
  • Establish baseline metrics and develop KPIs tied to cost, efficiency, and quality
  • Build a culture of structured problem-solving, daily huddles, and visual management
  • Partner with field and support teams to align operations, frontline care, and compliance in a way that scales

You’ll be a direct partner to operations and care leaders across dozens of states — helping balance real-world execution with strategic efficiency. This role comes with travel (at least 50%) and visibility. The impact? Real, lasting, and measurable.

What Makes You a Fit:

  • Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt strongly preferred (Green Belt or other certifications considered with proven experience)
  • At least 8 years of related experience that shows increasing responsibility over time
  • Experience must include direct leadership and influence of multi-site, multi-state operations
  • Success leading change in field-based, frontline-driven environments (e.g., services, healthcare, logistics, dental, etc.)
  • Bachelor’s degree required (Operations, Business, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or related field); Master’s preferred but not required
  • You’ve built, not just maintained, Lean programs — with a track record of improving operations at the field level
  • Strong facilitator and project leader with ability to earn trust from executives, managers, and frontline staff
  • Analytical, organized, and process-obsessed — but also practical and people-aware
  • Ready to travel at least 50% to engage field teams directly (more site density in SE or SW U.S.)
  • Comfortable working independently with support from a collaborative, cross-functional team

What’s in It for You:

  • Work inside a growing, mission-driven company with scale and a deeply human purpose
  • Put your stamp on a program that didn’t exist yesterday — and will define how the business runs tomorrow
  • Lead work that will shape both the customer experience and the team experience
  • Collaborate directly with the C-suite and a respected national operator

About the Search:

We’re a retained executive search firm leading this effort on behalf of the company. All inquiries are held in confidence.

If you’re a builder, a teacher, and a problem-solver — and you’ve been looking for a chance to build and lead Lean inside a growing organization that’s ready for change — we’d love to hear from you.
