Job summary

Golden Sonora Care Center in Sonora, CA is seeking a Director of Nursing Services (DNS) to lead clinical care for a 210-bed skilled nursing facility. The role offers relocation assistance and visibility for a strong clinical leader committed to quality of life and exceptional hospitality for residents and staff.

You will oversee nursing services, ensure regulatory compliance, mentor RN/LPN/CNA staff, manage staffing and budgets, and partner with the Executive Director on care plans and CEU

Qualifications

• RN license in good standing.
• Minimum 2+ years in geriatric nursing, including meds and delivery systems.
• 2+ years in supervision/management, budgeting and staff development.
• Meets health requirements as required by law.
• Able to read, write, speak and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of nursing services, plan, implement and evaluate resident care plans.
• Ensure adequate staff to maintain high quality of care and resident wellbeing.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state and local standards and protect resident/staff data.
• Maintain safety rules and procedures per policies and regulations.
• Mentor/train RN, LPN, CNA staff and hold them accountable for duties.
• Keep ED updated on resident, staffing and care plan changes.
• Attend CEU programs and participate in trainings and staff meetings.

Essential Functions:

• Responsible for the delivery of nursing services to include planning, implementing, and evaluating the care plan of each resident to maximize resident quality of life and quality of care with the integration of resident rights.

• Responsible for making sure that there is adequate staff in number and ability to maintain the highest practicable level of physical, mental, and psychosocial wellbeing for each resident that meets the state and federal regulations.

• Keeps the facility in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local standards and regulations and that resident and staff information is made available only according to the state or federal regulations.

• Maintains safety rules and procedures that incorporate federal and state regulations and company policies.

• Observes, mentors, and trains new and current staff including RN, LPN, CNA's to facility’s programs, policies and procedures and holds staff accountable for duties assigned.

• Keeps the Executive Director up to date on resident changes, staffing changes and service plan changes.

• Attends and participate in continuing education programs keeping CEUs credits up to date and attend and participate in training, in-services, and staff meetings.

Education, Licensure, & Experience Requirements:

• RN license in good standings.

• Must have a minimum of 2+ years working in geriatric nursing, including experience with medication administration, delivery systems and pharmacies.

• 2+ years in supervisory/management position, including experience with budgets, staff development, training and scheduling.

• Meets all health requirements imposed by law.

• Able to read, write, speak and understand English.

• Preferred: Working knowledge of MDS process, state and federal survey, and CMS.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Must be organized and have ability to communicate effectively with residents, their families and community staff in a confidential and professional manner.

• Demonstrates basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications.

• Ability to follow directions and work independently with minimal supervision.

• Ability to relate positively, effectively, and appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers and other facility staff.
