Job summary

Civic Minds in Avon, CT is seeking a Director of Nursing Services to lead our nursing department and uphold the highest standards of resident care. This 40-hour, salary-exempt role requires hands-on leadership, mentorship of staff, and strong collaboration with administration.

You will oversee clinical care, ensure regulatory compliance, staffing adequacy, and drive quality improvement across the facility to deliver exceptional care to residents.

Qualifications

• Active RN license and CPR certification.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of nursing administration/leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of long-term care regulations and clinical standards.
• Excellent leadership, communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and support the nursing team.

• Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Ensure appropriate staffing and nursing coverage.

This is a 40 hour/week salary exempt position with on call responsibilities.

What You'll Do

As our Director of Nursing Services, you'll lead the overall operation of our Nursing Services Department and play a key role in the quality of care throughout the facility. You will:

• Lead, mentor and support our nursing team
• Oversee clinical care and nursing operations
• Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations
• Ensure appropriate staffing and nursing coverage
• Make regular rounds and stay connected with residents and staff
• Monitor clinical outcomes and quality measures
• Lead Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement efforts
• Oversee nursing policies, procedures and standards of practice
• Address resident and family concerns promptly and professionally
• Partner closely with Administration, Infection Control, Staff Development and other department leaders
• Identify opportunities for improvement and develop effective plans of correction
• Promote a positive culture of quality, accountability, teamwork and respect

Required Qualifications

• Current, unencumbered RN license
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• BSN preferred
• Current CPR certification required
• Long-term care, geriatric and/or rehabilitative nursing experience a must
• Minimum one year of nursing administration/leadership experience
• Strong knowledge of long-term care regulations and clinical standards
• Excellent leadership, communication and organizational skills
• Background check required
