Director of Nursing - Palm Valley Post Acute (Healthcare)

The Director of Nursing oversees the entire nursing department, ensuring staffing levels, policy implementation, and compliance. Responsibilities include ensuring resident safety, conducting staff training, recruiting and hiring nursing staff, coordinating pharmacy services, liaising with physicians and families, and participating in legal proceedings if necessary. The role involves collaboration with other departments to deliver quality resident care, managing budgets, staying updated on regulations, and participating in quality assurance and survey activities. The director coordinates MDS and care planning, conducts employee appraisals, and handles disciplinary actions, always maintaining confidentiality. Direct care to residents may be required.

Supervisory Requirements

The Director supervises the ADON and nursing staff directly or indirectly.

Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing school, preferably with a BSN.
  • Good standing with the State Board of Nursing and current licensure.
  • Minimum of 7 years of nurse management experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities
  • Strong reading, writing, and interpretive skills for business and regulatory documents.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Point Click Care (PCC).
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.
Physical and Work Environment

This role requires occasional lifting up to 75 pounds, prolonged computer use, and the ability to sit, stand, walk, and communicate effectively. Travel may be necessary. The work environment is typically low to moderate noise.
