Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Director of Nursing for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to provide exceptional leadership and oversight of NICU services at a reputable healthcare facility in Texas. This dynamic role partners with the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and plays a key part in advancing patient care excellence, fostering clinical team development, and driving operational success.

The Director will lead nursing practice on a multi-unit level, assuming 24/7 accountability for assigned departments. The ideal candidate brings a collaborative leadership style, strong clinical expertise, and a passion for delivering high-quality, compassionate care to newborns and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership, coordination, and oversight of NICU nursing operations

  • Partner with the CNO to ensure delivery of safe, high-quality patient care and clinical outcomes

  • Manage nursing resources, staff development, and professional competencies across assigned units

  • Lead quality improvement initiatives and ensure regulatory compliance

  • Promote an engaging, supportive, and high-performance work culture

  • Serve as a role model and advocate for the nursing profession

  • Maintain open, effective communication with interdisciplinary teams, patients, and families

Qualifications

Licensure & Certifications:

  • Active and current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas (or compact license)

  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Education:

  • Required: Associate Degree in Nursing with a Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field (or BSN)

  • Preferred: Master’s degree (MSN or equivalent healthcare-related field)

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of progressive management experience in a hospital setting (as Manager, Charge Nurse, or equivalent leadership role)

  • 2+ years of direct NICU experience required

Skills:

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Demonstrated commitment to clinical excellence and patient-centered care

  • Ability to lead change and foster a culture of continuous improvement
