Job summary

Odessa Health Care Center, a 60-bed skilled nursing facility in Odessa, MO, is seeking an experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to lead clinical operations and build a culture of excellence for residents with complex medical and behavioral health needs.

The DON will partner with the Nursing Home Administrator and interdisciplinary leadership to ensure CMS compliance, drive quality measures, mentor staff, and deliver high-quality, resident-centered care in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Current Missouri RN license (or compact state license)
• DON/ADON experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility
• Experience with behavioral health, dementia, and complex clinical needs
• Strong knowledge of CMS regulations, state survey process, and infection prevention
• Proven track record in staff development, leadership coaching, and team building
• Ability to lead through change and drive measurable quality improvements
• Excellent communication, organizational, critical thinking and problem solving skills

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight for nursing operations in a 60-bed SNF
• Partner with NHA and leadership team to achieve clinical, regulatory, operational, and financial outcomes
• Ensure CMS compliance, regulatory readiness, and successful state surveys
• Oversee resident care, clinical documentation, infection prevention, QA/QI initiatives
• Lead staff education, orientation, ongoing clinical training, and leadership development
• Recruit, mentor, and develop nursing leaders and frontline staff
• Drive improvements in CMS Quality Measures, staffing, resident satisfaction, and clinical outcomes
• Foster a positive work environment prioritizing engagement and continuous improvement
• Provide calm, decisive leadership in a changing healthcare environment
• Support care for residents with behavioral health, psychiatric disorders, dementia and complex conditions
