Job Summary:
The Director of Nursing (DON) at Rivertown Ridge Senior Living is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the delivery of high-quality resident care and services within our community. The DON will lead, manage, and inspire the nursing team to achieve excellence in resident outcomes while maintaining compliance with all state, federal, and organizational regulations and policies. This role requires a compassionate and experienced leader committed to promoting a culture of respect, dignity, and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Staff Management:

  • Provide leadership and direction to nursing staff, ensuring a positive and professional work environment.

  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate nursing personnel to maintain a highly skilled and motivated team.

  • Foster teamwork and open communication within the nursing team and across all departments.

  • Serve as a role model and mentor to staff, encouraging professional growth and development.

Clinical Oversight:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor nursing care policies, procedures, and standards to ensure quality care delivery.

  • Assess and address the health care needs of residents, creating personalized care plans in collaboration with residents, families, and medical professionals.

  • Conduct regular audits and rounds to ensure adherence to care standards and regulatory compliance.

  • Oversee infection prevention and control measures, ensuring a safe and sanitary environment for residents and staff.

Compliance & Documentation:

  • Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations, including but not limited to HIPAA, OSHA, and state licensing requirements.

  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of resident assessments, care plans, and medical records.

  • Participate in inspections, surveys, and audits, responding promptly to any deficiencies or recommendations.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Act as a liaison between residents, families, staff, and external medical professionals to ensure seamless communication and care coordination.

  • Attend and participate in management and interdisciplinary team meetings, providing updates and insights on nursing operations.

  • Respond promptly to resident and family concerns, addressing issues with professionalism and sensitivity.

Budgeting & Resource Management:

  • Develop and manage the nursing department budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.

  • Monitor staffing levels and schedules to ensure adequate coverage while minimizing overtime and agency use.

  • Evaluate and procure medical supplies and equipment necessary for resident care.

Qualifications:

Education & Certification:

  • CurrentRN or LPN license in good standing in the state.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role in a senior living, long-term care, or similar healthcare setting.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory compliance, clinical practices, and quality improvement initiatives.

Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment: This role requires working in a senior living environment, with potential exposure to infectious diseases and varying levels of noise. The position may involve standing, walking, and lifting throughout the day.
