POSITION PURPOSE
The Director of Emergency and Trauma Services plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and evaluates care and staffing for the Emergency Department. Evaluation of staffing includes planning for the next shift. Responsible for developing strategic goals for the department/service grouping as well as fiscal year business plans required to achieve such goals. The Director is the key person who translates strategies into day-to-day operations assuring standards of nursing process, care, treatment, and services are followed and unit specific policy and procedure reflect current facility practice and nursing best practices. Responsible for directing and evaluating the provision of patient care, treatment and services in the department. Key functions of the position include planning, leading, organizing, directing, and evaluating. Accepts 24-hour accountability for areas of responsibility. Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies impacting nursing care. Develops, implements, and monitors objectives and goals to integrate technical and human resources to support organization’s mission. Provides direction, support and guidance to the staff and demonstrates positive role model in response to questions, issues or concerns raised by staff, family or physicians during tour of duty.
Education
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Associate degree in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred.
Experience
Two years of experience in a hospital ER setting and minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience preferred
