Job summary

Odessa Health Care Center is seeking an experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to lead clinical operations at our 60-bed skilled nursing facility in Odessa, MO. You will drive resident-centered care, mentor nursing leaders, and partner with leadership to achieve high-quality outcomes.

The ideal candidate holds a Missouri RN license with DON/ADON experience in SNF, and demonstrates excellence in CMS regulations, staffing, and regulatory readiness.

Qualifications

• RN licensed in Missouri or eligible for compact state license.
• Experience as DON or ADON in a skilled nursing facility.
• Strong knowledge of CMS regulations, survey processes and quality measures.
• Proven ability to lead teams, coach staff, and drive clinical improvements.
• Excellent communication, organization and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight for nursing operations in a 60-bed SNF with complex medical/behavioral health needs.
• Collaborate with the NHA and interdisciplinary team to achieve regulatory, clinical and operational outcomes.
• Ensure CMS compliance, readiness for state surveys and performance measures.
• Oversee clinical documentation, infection prevention and quality improvement initiatives.
• Lead staff education, orientation and ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight for all nursing operations within our 60 bed Skilled Nursing Facility focusing on complex medical and mental health issues.

• Partner with the Nursing Home Administrator and interdisciplinary leadership team to achieve exceptional clinical, regulatory, operational, and financial outcomes.

• Ensure CMS compliance, regulatory readiness, and successful state survey performance.

• Oversee resident care, clinical documentation, infection prevention, quality assurance, and quality improvement initiatives.

• Lead staff education, orientation, ongoing clinical training, and leadership development.

• Recruit, mentor, and develop nursing leaders and frontline staff while building a strong culture of teamwork and accountability.

• Drive improvements in CMS Quality Measures, staffing, resident satisfaction, and clinical outcomes.

• Foster a positive work environment focused on employee engagement, retention, and continuous improvement.

• Provide calm, decisive leadership in a changing healthcare environment while maintaining a strong focus on resident-centered care.

• Support the care of residents with behavioral health diagnoses, psychiatric disorders, dementia, and other medically complex conditions.

Qualifications

• Current Missouri Registered Nurse (RN) license or compact state license eligible for Missouri practice.

• Previous experience as a Director of Nursing (DON) or Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) in a Skilled Nursing Facility.

• Experience caring for residents with behavioral health diagnoses, psychiatric disorders, dementia, and other complex clinical needs is required.

• Strong knowledge of CMS regulations, the state survey process, regulatory compliance, Quality Measures, and infection prevention.

• Demonstrated success in staff development, clinical education, leadership coaching, and team building.

• Ability to lead through change, manage multiple priorities, and achieve measurable quality improvements.

• Excellent communication, organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
