Job summary

Monarch Healthcare Management is seeking a Director of Nursing (DON) to lead and maintain nursing services, oversee care delivery systems, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. The DON will orient, supervise, and coordinate nursing staff and collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to optimize resident care.

The role requires RN licensure in Minnesota, experience in rehabilitation/geriatric nursing, and strong leadership with budget and staffing oversight.

Qualifications

• Must be a Registered Nurse with Minnesota license.
• Training in rehabilitation nursing, gerontology, nursing service administration, management, supervision.
• Experience in healthcare, skilled nursing facility or assisted living community.

Responsibilities

• RAI, MDS & Care Planning Oversight: oversee the full RAI/MDS process, coordinate interdisciplinary care planning, participate in patient care conferences, admissions, and discharges.
• Clinical Nursing Leadership & Care Coordination: direct total nursing care, ensure accurate documentation, implement procedures, maintain manuals, coordinate with physicians and teams.
• Regulatory Compliance & Quality Improvement: ensure compliance with state/federal regulations, Nurse Practice Act, Residents’ Bill of Rights; promote autonomy and quality improvement.
• Medication Management & Clinical Monitoring: ensure safe medication administration, collaborate with pharmacy, monitor drug interactions, complete regulatory reporting and documentation.
• Staffing, Budgeting & Department Efficiency: manage staffing, work within budget, oversee supplies, coordinate vendor interactions, support high-cost purchasing decisions.
• Professional Leadership & Facility Engagement: promote a positive workplace, lead staff meetings/education, participate in audits, support operations.

Director of Nursing (DON)

Position Summary

The Director of Nursing is accountable for the development and maintenance of nursing service objective and standards of nursing practice. Has administrative authority, responsibility and accountability for functions, activities, and training of nursing staff. Is responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of care delivery systems. Orients, instructs, and supervises personnel and functions. Coordinates nursing services with other departments. Maintains supplies and adequate equipment. Maintains compliance with Federal, State, and local standards and regulations to assure quality outcome of care.

Responsibilities

  Oversee the full RAI/MDS process, including electronic submission and timelines; coordinate interdisciplinary care planning; and participate in patient care conferences, admissions, and discharges.
• Clinical Nursing Leadership & Care Coordination
  Direct total nursing care, ensure accurate nursing documentation, implement nursing procedures, maintain updated nursing manuals, and coordinate resident care with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
• Regulatory Compliance & Quality Improvement
  Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, Nurse Practice Act, and Residents’ Bill of Rights while promoting autonomy, confidentiality, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
• Medication Management & Clinical Monitoring
  Implement safe medication administration processes, collaborate with pharmacy consultants, monitor drug interactions, and complete required regulatory reporting and documentation.
• Staffing, Budgeting & Department Efficiency
  Manage nursing department staffing and efficiency, work within budget guidelines, oversee supplies and equipment, coordinate vendor interactions, and support high-cost purchasing decisions.
• Professional Leadership & Facility Engagement
  Promote a positive, inclusive workplace; serve as a professional role model; lead staff meetings and education; participate in audits and meetings; and maintain flexibility to support operations as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be a Registered Nurse, currently licensed by the State of Minnesota, who has training in rehabilitation nursing, gerontology, nursing service administration, management, supervision and psychiatric or geriatric nursing before or within the first twelve (12) months after appointment as Director of Nursing Services.
• Must qualify for employment, after criminal background study, per guidelines of Minnesota Department of Human Services.
• Experience in healthcare, skilled nursing facility or assisted living community
