DIRECTOR OF NURSING/CHIEF NURSE EXECUTIVE

St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center is seeking a focused, driven, compassionate leader to provide clinical collaboration for both campuses. This position generally works Monday - Friday, 8 a.m.- 4:30 p.m., but the CNE retains responsibility for all nursing services to ensure patient care and safety at all times. The CNE is on-call 24/7 for emergency nursing issues and serves as an on-call facility administrator on a rotating basis with other senior leadership.

Job Duties Include But Are Not Limited To
  1. Development, implementation, and monitoring of nursing care standards, policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure high-quality nursing care.
  2. Supervision of nursing staff, clerical support, and others as directed.
  3. Recruitment, hiring, deployment, and assignment of nursing personnel based on client needs.
  4. Management of fiscal resources for nursing services, including budgeting, overtime, and contracted labor.
  5. Coordination with administrative and clinical departments to deliver client services.
  6. Responding to and resolving complaints from clients, families, staff, and stakeholders.
  7. Provision of direct nursing care in emergencies and for staff education.
  8. Development and oversight of quality assurance and quality improvement programs.
  9. Monitoring high-risk issues like restraint use, medication errors, and patient safety incidents.
  10. Participation in risk management, disaster preparedness, and facility administration.
  11. Liaison with educational institutions and community health providers.
  12. Ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.
  13. Staff orientation, training, and continuing education.
  14. Participation in facility and statewide meetings and committees.
  15. Providing clinical and administrative consultation to affiliated sites and other CNES as requested.
  16. Other duties as assigned.
Eligibility Requirements
  • Master’s degree in psychiatric or mental health nursing from an NLN-accredited school.
  • Registered Nurse licensure.
  • 3-5+ years of RN experience and 2-4+ years in nurse management.
