Job description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Nursing for Behavioral Health to lead nursing operations, clinical quality, and professional development within our behavioral health department.

This leadership position is responsible for setting and maintaining nursing practice standards, driving quality improvement, overseeing staffing and education, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and clinical standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of the Behavioral Health nursing division
  2. Identify, implement, monitor, and evaluate nursing standards of care and evidence-based practices
  3. Lead departmental quality improvement initiatives in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams
  4. Manage all Human Resources activities including hiring, evaluation, and retention of staff
  5. Develop and oversee educational programs to support staff development and clinical excellence
  6. Ensure compliance with state, federal, and facility regulations and policies
  7. Foster a culture of safety, empathy, accountability, and patient-centered care
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing – BSN required
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field required
  • Exceptional experience in lieu of education will be considered
  • Doctorate in Nursing or Healthcare Leadership – preferred
  • Current and valid RN license in New York State – required
  • Minimum 10 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably with progressive leadership in behavioral health settings
  • BLS and ACLS certification – required
  • Certification in a Behavioral Health Nursing specialty – required
