Job summary

Litchford Health & Rehabilitation Center seeks a Director of Nursing to lead the nursing services department and ensure adherence to nursing standards and regulations. The role collaborates with medical staff to coordinate comprehensive patient care.

Qualifications

  • Long Term Care experience 5 years or more.
  • Associate degree from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Active, unencumbered RN licensure in the state of employment.
  • BSN preferred.
  • Strong ability to lead diverse team of individuals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong ability to make independent decisions and work without direct supervision.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family, visitors, and the public.
  • Knowledge of current standards of nursing practice.
  • Understanding of survey process and quality measures.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and applications.
  • Excellent customer service focus.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and feedback to staff on performance; completes employee performance appraisals.
  • Oversees nursing department scheduling and staffing needs in line with budgeted hours per patient day (HPPD).
  • Promotes the center’s education program; participates in orientation processes.
  • Evaluate and manage nursing services related to objectives and cost controls.
  • Oversees infection prevention and control program.
  • Routinely review clinical processes to promote positive patient outcomes.
  • Participates in Quality Assurance program.
  • Attends corporate level education programs as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as necessary for the operation of the business.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Nursing (“DON”) is responsible for the overall management, supervision, and direction of the nursing services department. The DON implements and maintains nursing department goals and objectives, ensures compliance with current standards of nursing practice, company policy and procedure, as well as applicable federal, state, and local guidelines and regulations.

Participate in recruitment, selection, and hiring process of quality nursing staff.

Effectively manages turnover in the nursing department.

Provides leadership and provides regular feedback to staff on performance; completes employee performance appraisals in a timely manner.

Oversees nursing department scheduling and staffing needs in accordance with budgeted hours per patient day (HPPD).

Promotes the center’s education program; participates in and enforces the center’s orientation process.

Evaluate and manage nursing services in relation to specific objects and cost controls.

Oversees the implementation and maintenance of the center’s infection prevention and control program.

Routinely review clinical processes to promote positive patient outcomes.

Participates and provides leadership in the Quality Assurance program.

Attends corporate level education programs as necessary.

Performs other duties as necessary for the successful operation of the business.

JOB DESCRIPTION: DIRECTOR OF NURSING 2 of 2 REVISED 05/2023 PREREQUISITES, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Long Term Care experience 5 years or more

Associate degree from an accredited school of nursing required. Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) Preferred.

Active, unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment.

Ability to lead diverse team of individuals.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong ability to make independent decisions and work without direct supervision.

Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government personnel, and the public.

Must have thorough knowledge of current standards of nursing practice.

Must have a thorough understanding of the survey process and quality measures.

Must be knowledgeable of computer systems and applications.
