Job summary

Dungarvin is seeking a Director of Nursing to provide strategic leadership for all nursing services across Indiana operations, overseeing clinical programs, regulatory compliance, and nursing staff development to achieve outstanding outcomes for individuals with IDD.

WE OFFER:
  • Compensation: $90,000 Annually (Fixed Rate)
  • Work Environment: Onsite/Hybrid(2-3 days per month) in Indianapolis, IN

  • Work Schedule: Typically, 8 AM - 5 PM CST, On call as needed.
  • Travel Requirement: Quarterly site visits required throughout the state, some overnight travel required.

Job Description

The Director of Nursing provides strategic leadership for all nursing services throughout Indiana operations. This role oversees clinical programs, regulatory compliance, quality assurance initiatives, and nursing staff development while ensuring exceptional healthcare outcomes for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Working closely with operational leaders, physicians, pharmacies, and other healthcare partners, you'll develop clinical best practices, strengthen nursing operations, monitor quality metrics, and build a culture centered on compassionate, person-focused care and continuous improvement.

What You Get To Do:
  • Nursing Leadership & Team Development: Lead and develop the nursing team by providing coaching, mentorship, performance management, and ongoing education. Oversee hiring, orientation, competency training, and Med Core A & B instruction to build a high-performing clinical team.
  • Clinical Operations & Quality: Direct nursing services across Indiana operations, ensuring high-quality, person-centered care through healthcare assessments, medication management, quality assurance programs, and individualized health risk planning for persons served.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Maintain compliance with Indiana regulations, ICF standards, and organizational policies while overseeing clinical audits, incident reviews, corrective action plans, and enhanced monitoring for medically fragile individuals.
  • Strategic Partnership & Clinical Support: Partner with operational leaders, physicians, pharmacies, and interdisciplinary teams to strengthen clinical outcomes, improve nursing practices, support organizational initiatives, and provide on-call leadership for emergent clinical needs.
Qualifications
MUST HAVE:
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), including at least two years of nursing leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Clinical Expertise: Strong knowledge of nursing best practices, healthcare assessments, medication administration, quality assurance, and clinical program development.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Working knowledge of Indiana healthcare regulations, ICF standards, nursing compliance requirements, and risk management practices.
  • Licensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Indiana with the ability to maintain licensure in good standing.
NICE TO HAVE:
  • Leadership Development: Experience developing nursing staff, mentoring clinical teams, and leading education or professional development initiatives.
  • Quality & Compliance: Experience with clinical auditing, quality improvement programs, incident management, and survey readiness.
  • Training & Education: Willingness and ability to teach state-required Med Core A & B training and provide ongoing clinical education that supports staff competency and high-quality care.
