12 days ago Requisition ID: 1192

Director of Nursing

Full Time | Salary Exempt Position
Routine Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

About the Role
Lead the Heart of Our Hospital.

The Director of Nursing (DON) is more than a clinical leader at Holton Community Hospital—they are a culture builder, mentor, advocate, and champion for our nursing team.

We are looking for an experienced nursing leader who brings energy, optimism, approachability, and a genuine passion for people to the role. Someone who enjoys being visible and engaged with staff, celebrates their successes, listens to their concerns, and inspires them to be the very best nurses they can be.

If you are the kind of leader who can walk onto the nursing unit and immediately make people feel supported, valued, and motivated, we want to meet you.

As the Director of Nursing, you will have a meaningful opportunity to shape the future of nursing at Holton Community Hospital. You will lead a talented team across our Acute, Swing Bed, Outpatient, Pharmacy, and Emergency Departments while partnering with physicians, administration, and other leaders to provide exceptional patient care.

The successful candidate will be a confident and compassionate leader who can balance accountability with encouragement, operational demands with people, and the challenges of healthcare with a positive, solutions-oriented attitude.

The Leadership Style We're Looking For

We believe the best nursing leaders don't lead from behind a desk.

They are present. They listen. They encourage. They celebrate. They coach. They hold people accountable. They recognize when their team needs support—and they know when to challenge their team to grow.

We are looking for someone who brings warmth, confidence, energy, and authenticity to their leadership. Someone who can build relationships while still making tough decisions. Someone who can walk into a challenging situation and bring calm, optimism, and a focus on solutions.

Most importantly, we're looking for a leader who genuinely cares about nurses and wants them to succeed.

The Director analyzes and evaluates nursing and related services to improve quality of patient care, optimize staffing and resources, and support efficient department operations. The DON is also responsible for fostering the professional development of nursing staff and creating an environment that promotes engagement, teamwork, accountability, and pride in the nursing profession.

This position requires a high degree of independent judgment in the interpretation and implementation of organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and applicable laws.
