Role Description

The Director of Nursing is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in Alexandria, VA. This role oversees all nursing operations, including planning, organizing, and evaluating clinical services to ensure safe, high-quality home health care. Daily responsibilities include supervising nursing staff, coordinating patient care plans, monitoring documentation and compliance, and implementing evidence-based practices. The Director of Nursing collaborates with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, and administrative leadership to support patient outcomes, infection control standards, and regulatory compliance. Additional tasks include conducting performance evaluations, supporting staff education, participating in quality improvement initiatives, performing patient assessments as needed and maintaining strong communication with patients, families, and caregivers.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess at least 2 years Nursing Management and leadership experience, including staff supervision, scheduling, and performance management.
• Candidates should possess clinical expertise in Nursing and Medicine relevant to home health and long-term care settings.
• Candidates should possess knowledge of Infection Control practices and the ability to implement and monitor safety protocols.
• Candidates should possess experience in Long-term Care or home health environments and familiarity with regulatory and accreditation standards.
• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Virginia (or eligibility for licensure) is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration preferred.
• Several years of progressive nursing leadership experience, preferably in home health or community-based care.Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines.
• Proficiency with Wellsky Home Health and Wellsky personal care and basic computer applications.
