Job summary

Aptima in Woburn, MA is seeking a Director of Business Development with a proven Navy and defense contracting track record to lead strategy and pursuits.

In this role you will own service-level portfolio planning, win strategies, and strategic teaming, driving the transition of Aptima’s innovations into operational use across the U.S. Navy and DoD.

You will align customer needs with Aptima’s technology roadmap and engage senior partners to sustain trusted, long-term collaborations.

Qualifications

• Prior U.S. Navy active duty experience required.
• Recent track record in defense contracting business development.
• Ability to translate customer needs into win strategies.
• Willingness to travel as needed; eligible for a U.S. Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Own and optimize a dynamic opportunity pipeline prioritizing strategic fit.
• Monitor market trends, budgets, and requirements; adapt strategies.
• Lead Navy pipeline opportunities with executive oversight.
• Identify and qualify new opportunities across Navy and joint customers.
• Support growth initiatives and forecasting with senior leadership.
• Cultivate relationships across Navy and DoD stakeholders.
• Lead customer engagements and needs analyses.
• Align Aptima technologies with operational requirements.
• Develop engagement artifacts (presentations, demos, videos).
