Director of Music Ministries (Part-Time)

Overview: St. John's United Church of Christ is a vibrant and growing congregation with a rich and diverse musical heritage. We are seeking a passionate, experienced, and enthusiastic part-time Director of Music Ministries to lead, coordinate, and inspire the musical elements of our congregation. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with a wide array of musical talents, including our hand bell choir, vocal choir, church band, and special performers.

The ideal candidate will be adaptable and possess a broad skill set that can accommodate both traditional and contemporary music traditions. While experience is essential, we will provide flexibility and collaboration, recognizing that this position requires management of many musical elements.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead and Coordinate Music Ministry: Oversee all aspects of music ministry at St. John’s, ensuring a seamless integration of music into our weekly worship services, which include both contemporary and traditional elements.
2. Music Planning & Collaboration: Partner closely with the pastor and the music planning committee to choose appropriate music for worship services, special events, and seasonal celebrations.
3. Flexible Responsibilities: Be willing to adapt and take on additional duties as needed to support the music ministry and the broader mission of the church. Such duties may be assigned based on the evolving needs of the church community.

Qualifications:

1. Experience: Proven experience leading music ministries in a church setting.
2. Musical Proficiency: Proficiency in vocal and instrumental music, with the ability to direct and arrange music for choirs, bands, accompanists, and instrumental groups.
3. Collaborative Spirit: This position will be collaborative with our pastor, accompanists, musicians, and the music planning committee to ensure that music ministry aligns with the overall mission and vision of the church, and that the Director is given the support needed to succeed in this position.
4. This is a part-time position, with flexible hours based on the needs of the music ministry and the church’s worship schedule.
5. You will not be working in isolation but as part of a collaborative team with the pastor, accompanists, and other musicians.
