The purpose of this position is to facilitate an atmosphere in which God is worshiped and glorified, and to provide direction, oversight, and coordination of musical, artistic, and technical elements of worship services.

– The Director of Music is responsible for all activities in the music department of the church as listed in the job description and is encouraged to recruit, train, and lead volunteers to assist with these duties as appropriate.

– The Director of Music should possess spiritual maturity, a dynamic personality, the ability to direct and relate well to a variety of ages, and the desire to facilitate those within the music ministry to use their God-given talents to uplift the congregation.

– The Director of Music may use up to four (4) Sundays per year as personal time off.

  13. Secure maintenance and tuning for instruments as needed.
  14. Establish rehearsal schedules for the choirs and praise team in a fashion that provides stability and attractiveness to recruit and grow the music ministry of Highland Park UMC.
  15. Participate in scheduled church council meetings as well as weekly staff meetings.
  16. Make fill-in arrangements when unable to perform duties as described during services or practices.
