PenFed Credit Union in the United States is seeking a Director, Model Risk Management to lead PenFed's model validation for consumer banking and fraud risk across retail lending and mortgage portfolios. This hybrid role will drive independent validation, governance, and effective challenge of models used by executive leadership.

You will oversee pre-implementation validations, change reviews, and ongoing monitoring, collaborate with governance partners, and advance modeling methods including

Qualificações

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics or Statistics.
• Advanced degree in quantitative field preferred (MS/PhD).
• 7+ years in quantitative modeling or related risk areas in a financial institution.
• 3+ years in direct management or supervisory leadership.
• Experience overseeing creation, validation, testing, monitoring and documentation of advanced ML techniques.
• Strong familiarity with Bureau credit data and large database management; Python proficiency.
• Knowledge of SR 26-2 and SR 11-7 regulatory frameworks.
• Experience in governance/second-line risk management and with regulatory audits.
• Excellent communication translating technical topics for senior management.
• Experience using AI tools preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Lead and oversee the model validation function across credit and fraud risk management.
• Develop governance standards for consumer banking models within PenFed.
• Provide clear analysis and reports to senior management.
• Perform independent validation including pre-implementation validations and ongoing monitoring.
• Maintain relationships with model users, owners and governance partners.
• Improve quantitative modeling approaches, including agentic AI and advanced ML.
• Keep abreast of regulatory developments impacting model risk management.
